Jaya lives in Bristol. Jaya started her career as a physicist and materials scientist, but over the past two decades has held numerous executive, NED, and community roles.

Jaya is a digital activist using open data and technology for good and was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by the Queen in the 2014 Birthday Honours for Services to Creative Digital Industries.

As CEO of award-winning tiscreport.org, she is using supply chain transparency to increase ethical trade. She is extending into environmental action with projectvana.org, an afforestation-with-data app.

Outside work, Jaya is President of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Initiative, serves on the Home Office Transparency in Supply Chains Modern Slavery Strategy and Implementation Group, and is an Honorary Research Fellow of the UCL Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science.

Most recently, Jaya has joined as a director of Bristol Future Talent Partnership CIC; a collaboration of leading organisations who share the vision of making Bristol the fairest and most racially equal place to study and work in the UK.

She is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Bristol’s Physics Department.
