Local Providers are currently undertaking a clinical review regarding concerns patients have raised with the provision of this treatment over the last few years. Until this review is concluded and assurances are provided that this treatment is safe and given to patients at the clinically appropriate time, the CCG has taken the decision to suspend this commissioning policy.

In the interim, any request to fund this treatment should be made to the Exceptional Funding Panel who will consider whether the treatment should be provided exceptionally.

This policy relates to the management of internal rectal prolapse and obstructed defecation syndrome.
