New appointment made to the Integrated Care Board for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire
The Integrated Care Board (ICB) for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) has appointed Jo Hicks as Chief People Officer.
The ICB is the new statutory body within the wider Integrated Care System (ICS) for the area, known as the Healthier Together Partnership. Together, the 10 partner organisations which make-up the ICS, work to improve health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities, and provide integrated services for the one million people living in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Jo has over 25 years’ experience in leading and driving change across large organisations as a workforce, leadership and organisational development specialist. She is currently in post as Deputy Chief People Officer and Director of Strategy, Leadership and Belonging at the Ministry of Justice.
Speaking about her appointment, Jo said:
“I am delighted to be returning to the NHS to become the ICB’s Chief People Officer.
“This is a really exciting time to be joining the organisation and I look forward to working with the executive team and wider workforce to enable our people to flourish and provide the best services for the populations we serve.”

“I am thrilled to be welcoming Jo to the organisation, completing our executive team structure for the ICB. Jo has a clear passion for people and brings a wealth of experience of working across public services at a local and national level.
“In her role, Jo will lead the development and delivery of the long-term people strategy for the ICS, while building further on our strong relationships with local health and care system leaders.”
Jo Hicks will be taking up the role of Chief People Officer towards the end of February 2023.
