John lives in Bristol. He is a CIPFA-qualified accountant who had an early career in Health and Local Government, before moving into Higher Education, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer at Cardiff Metropolitan University (2013 – August 2017) and then as the University Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Westminster (since September 2017). He has coupled his current job (since May 2019) with the appointment as an Independent Non-Executive Lay Member and Deputy Chair at the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire NHS CCG. He chairs the Strategic Finance Committee and is a member of the Governance, Audit and Risk and Remuneration Committees.
