Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board has an exciting opportunity for an academic to support two ambitious, prevention-focused programmes across children’s and adult social care in North Somerset Council.
This is a unique opportunity to embed research within local authority and health system teams and apply research expertise directly to real-world service transformation.
This advert is for a Researcher in Residence to work closely with public health, children’s services and adult social care teams to:
• Strengthen upstream, preventative approaches in children’s social care using a whole-family, public health lens
• Promote independence and employment for working-age adults with learning disabilities
• Translate evidence and lived experience into practical service development and commissioning decisions
Aims:
Project 1 – Children and young people
• Non-systematic evidence review on approaches for preventing escalating need for social care
• Focus on whole-family approaches, service integration, workforce models and trauma-informed practice
• Logic modelling of service adaptation and development
• Development of an evaluation framework for new models
Project 2 – Adults living with learning disabilities
• Evidence review on maintaining independence and supporting employment in early adulthood
• Engagement with people with learning disabilities through focus groups
• Exploring pathways into supported housing
• Synthesis of evidence to identify commissioning and service development opportunities
