Grant submissions to the National Institute for Health and Care Research
If you are considering submitting a research grant application to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) with us as the host or the contracting organisation, our Research Team is here to help you.
The following requirements must be completed before our Director of Finance can confirm the ICB is happy to act as the host/contracting organisation for your NIHR application.
Grant submission checklist
For us to sign your application, you will need these two things:
- Confirmation from the Chief Investigator in writing (email or letter) that all non-“NHS” costs have been calculated and approved by each organisation.
- Confirmation that all “NHS” costs have been calculated and approved either by us, or written confirmation from another organisation that the costs are appropriate.
Grant funding flow chart
The grant funding flowchart maps the process and requirements for submitting a grant to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) with us as your host/contracting organisation. Please note this is an overarching process.
There are variations in submission requirements between outline and full grant applications and between NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre and NIHR Central Commissioning Facility awards.
Signatories to an NIHR grant submission
It is important to add the correct signatories to your application and this should be done when you start your application to allow time to amend any incorrect signatories, changes in post and to give the signatories advance notice that their signature will be required by your specified deadline.
