Maternity services
We are responsible for commissioning maternity services from three local hospital trusts to provide you with a choice of where to give birth. The trusts that we work with are North Bristol Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
You can discuss where to have your baby with your midwife or obstetrician. The range of options includes home-births, midwife-led birth centres and consultant-led units in hospitals. You can change your mind at any time during your pregnancy.
Integrated teams of midwives provide antenatal and postnatal care.
You’re encouraged to provide feedback on services through the Friends and Family Test after you’ve had your baby. You can also share your experiences of maternity services through Maternity Voices.
Local choices include:
North Bristol NHS Trust
- Cossham Hospital Birth Centre
- Southmead Hospital central delivery suite
- Southmead Hospital birth suite
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
